Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute Joins Statewide FLASCO Gathering to Address Current and Future Changes in Cancer Care Delivery

Physicians, clinicians and senior leaders of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC will continue their long history of active involvement with the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology at the FLASCO Fall Session being held in Orlando, Oct. 28 & 29.

Fort Myers, Fla., October 28, 2022 – Physicians, clinicians and senior leaders of Florida Cancer Specialists & Research Institute, LLC (FCS) will continue their long history of active involvement with the Florida Society of Clinical Oncology (FLASCO) at the FLASCO Fall Session being held in Orlando, Oct. 28 & 29. The gathering of medical oncologists, hematologists, nurse practitioners, pharmacists and other health care professionals who manage and provide care for cancer patients across the state will feature dynamic educational tracks that focus on the latest scientific advancements in cancer care, the effects of novel therapies and barriers to care.

FCS medical oncologist Mohammad Jahanzeb, MD, FACP, FASCO, who provides care to patients at FCS locations in Palm Beach County, will moderate a general session on Lung Cancer Solid Tumor. Kayla Haines, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, an FCS advanced practice provider, will participate as a panelist.

Diane Cope, PhD, APRN, BC, AOCNP, FCS Director of Nursing, will participate as a panelist for “The Expanding Role of the Oncology Nurse.” The session will explore post-COVID patient care, insurance navigation, advance care planning and overcoming barriers to care.

FCS President & Managing Physician Michael Diaz, MD, who served as FLASCO president from 2015 to 2017, said, “FLASCO fosters multidisciplinary collaboration, which is critical in the complex field of oncology. Our active participation in this premier statewide network helps to ensure that we are learning, sharing best practices and finding solutions together with our colleagues from across the state.”
