Philip Philip, MD, PhD, professor of oncology at Karmanos Cancer Center, Wayne State University School of Medicine, on treatment options for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer. Philip says treating a patient with advanced pancreatic cancer as soon as the diagnosis is made is usually the best option and not waiting for a later date to try "better" treatments.
Philip adds that while some patients will do well on different treatments, some will never be able to tolerate a combination therapy. He adds that the two biggest treatments for advanced pancreatic cancer are a combinaiton of gemcitabine and paclitaxel, as well as the folfirinox regiment.
